Fremantle's Global Entertainment Director, Andrew Llinares, is stepping down after three years, driven by a creative yearning to return to producing shows. With a rich history at Fremantle, Llinares has led the global entertainment portfolio and format development from London since 2023, overseeing 345 commissions and 302 productions last year. His departure follows that of Fremantle's Chief Executive of Global Drama and Film, Christian Vesper, who stepped down in January after nearly a decade. Llinares' journey began with Thames/Syco co-productions in the UK, where he was the original showrunner for The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. He then took on executive producer and showrunner roles for The X Factor USA and Dancing with the Stars. Llinares reflects on his time at Fremantle, expressing his inspiration from the global leadership team and strategic industry view. However, he emphasizes his desire to return to his creative roots, stating, 'I couldn’t ignore the creative itch to get back to making content myself.' Fremantle's CEO, Jennifer Mullin, acknowledges Llinares' impact, describing him as a 'visionary creative' and praising his contributions to nurturing new formats and talent. As Llinares embarks on his next creative adventure, the Fremantle Global Entertainment division will be temporarily led by Mullin, who expresses her support and appreciation for his decision.
