Hun Kim, the creative mind behind this collection, presents an intriguing take on the classic white shirt. Picture this: an extra-long shirt, tailored like a tailcoat, offering a unique and elegant twist on evening wear. It's a fresh approach, pairing it with glossy black trousers or a croc-textured miniskirt.
But here's where it gets interesting. Lagerfeld, known for his narrative-driven collections, found inspiration in the mountains. Flipping through '80s magazines, he was reminded of a time when alpine resorts and après-ski events were synonymous with formality and elegance.
"We've lost that sense of dressing up," Kim observes. "Everything has become too casual."
Lagerfeld's love for tailoring, white shirts, and neat LBDs is evident, but Kim adds a modern twist with intricate seaming and dramatic volumes.
"Karl's drawings always emphasized the shoulders," Kim explains, opting for pagoda shoulders, rounded sleeves, and off-the-shoulder necklines.
And this is the part most people miss: Kim's genius lies in his transformable garments. A black sequin minidress can be worn solo or paired with a detachable black silk overskirt, creating a playful glimpse of the legs. Similarly, a faux-fur bolero and a long vest in double-faced wool can be worn separately or combined for a textural trench effect.
